Designed to acquaint the beginner with the necessary knowledge to do good inlay work, commencing at whatever stage interests him/her. Inlay pieces may be purchased pre-cut and ready to inlay, or the blanks may be purchased and cut by the beginner to his own or traditional designs. The more serious inlayer can cut and grind the blanks from the raw shell.
While the contents of this book are primarily for the beginner at instrument inlaying, most of the techniques used can be adapted to other crafts such as furniture decoration, jewelry making and various types of lapidary work.
